Yep that’s right!
Today is my first day as a vegan. I can’t actually believe that I have decided to go vegan, but after watching a documentary called What The Health, I’ve decided to give this vegan thing an experiment/try for the next two months to see what happens.
To kick of this experiment I’ve had another DEXA Scan at Body Scan and to my excitement I have dropped 800g of body fat to bring myself down from 12.5% body fat to 11.5% body fat since my last scan in the middle of January 2017, 3 months ago.
Tomorrow I’ll be doing a full blood test to so I can benchmark where my body health is at the moment and I’ll do another blood test in one month and then one month after that at the end of my two month experiment.
Is going vegan going to be hard? A lot of people may find it hard as they have to completely change my diet. Luckily over two years ago I went through a diet change cutting out all processed foods, added sugar and crap. So the changes I have to make for my vegan experiment are just a few:
- no greek yoghurt in my morning porridge (I can replace this with coconut yoghurt)
- no hard boiled eggs (I love these so much and generally 3 a day, now these are gone from my diet and I’ll replace these with red kidney beans, chickpeas and lentils for a snack)
- no steak (poor me, but tofu, mushrooms or egg plant might be a good swap)
- no salmon (not sure what to replace here but will try brown rice or quinoa – no idea if that is even considered a replacement haha)
- no tuna (love a good tuna steak!)
- no chicken (I’ve cut most chicken out as as chicken is generally full of shit and also is a leading cause of diabetes https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3942738/, http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa031314 and see more here)
- no pork chops (not a big deal
That’s it for day one.
